| 1972 |
Rotary
Electrical Company (REC) started as a partnership with Mr
Chia Kim Piow as the managing partner. The Partnership did maintenance work for refineries such as Singapore Refinery
Company (SRC), Esso and Mobil Oil in Singapore. |
| 1973 |
REC
was admitted to the panels of resident contractors of Singapore Refinery Company (SRC), Esso and Mobil Oil in Singapore for
instrumentation and electrical maintenance works. |
| 1975 |
REC
was converted into a private limited company. This
conversion enabled the company to secure better banking
facilities and bid for larger contracts. |
| 1983 |
REC
was acquired by ROTARY in an amalgamation exercise. The
group’s core business activities expanded into civil/
structure, mechanical equipment installation and piping
including Procurement. Rotary Electrical concentrated on
instrumentation and electrical engineering and installation. |
| 1985 |
ROTARY
secured its first direct contract from Van Ommeren Tank Terminal
(S) Pte Ltd, a multinational product storage
facility operator. REC’s role in this project
was to build instrumentation and electrical installations. |
| 1988 |
REC
secured more electrical installation projects from an Ommeren Tank Terminal
(S) Pte Ltd in Pulau Sebarok for its Pit 6 and Pit 18. |
| 1993 |
ROTARY
was converted into a public listed company, adopting the name
Rotary Engineering Limited. |
| 1998 |
REC
completed its first marine and offshore
project in AL Shaheen Development Welheads Platform. |
| 1999 |
REC completed its first FPSO project for
the Laminaria & Carollina Development Project. |
| 2001 |
REC
was awarded a contract for the Shell EA FPSO project, which was
the world's biggest FPSO project at the time. |
| 2003 |
REC
completed the Waste Water Treatment project fpr Public Utilities
Board |
| 2004 |
REC
was again awarded a contract for the ERHA FPSO Project, which
was again the world's biggest FPSO project at the time. |
| 2006 |
REC undertook its first Biodiesel project and
was awarded the Universal Terminal Project which was one of the
world's biggest independent Oil terminals. |
| 2007 |
REC was awarded a contract for the Shell
ECC project. |
